The hungriest caterpillar

I found this not-so-little guy in our garden a couple of days ago.  He was huge!  Even the dog kept his distance.

 Who ate all the peonies?

I put the dandelion here for context... Caterpillar did not
look unhappy about it.

 Interesting patterning

Baby frogs!

Despite regulary stumbling upon the fornicating frogs and swiftly leaving after mumbling my embarrassed apolgies, I was still surprised when I found these tiny frogs in the pond. I had seen the tadpoles breaking the surface of the water several times, but came upon several of these guys sat on the exposed pond liner (its not the best constructed pond). Being the ardent zoologist I am, I naturally had to interfere with and scoop them onto my hands for a photo shoot:

Baby frogs - Although isn't a baby frog a
tadpole? I guess these are just small adults.
Or midgets.

Frogs

As promised, though somewhat later than intended, here's a photo of one of the visiting frogs.

Fornicating frogs!

The house we have moved to has a pond which is more algae than water. However, it seems to be more than adequate for the sudden arrival of heaps of frogs! The pond's surface looks like a jacuzzi with the frog's amorous activities!
Our landlord appears to be a very nature-loving person as there are bird-boxes and tables in the garden too. He advised us to put a tin of tuna (out of the tin!) in the pond to help the frog's spawn. The adults would eat their young without the alternative food source. So we are looking forward to spring and the emergence of the new baby frogs that will bring now. I will add photos here soon, but I'm not sure how many people are going to be interested in the sex-life of frogs!
